The English Suites of Charles Dieupart and Johann Sebastian Bach

I look forward to present an exciting new recital programme exploring the links between Dieupart and Bach’s ‘English Suites’ with the fantastic John Butt on harpsichord. Come along to the University of Glasgow’s lunchtime concert series if you want to experience some rarely heard French music and well-known pieces in a fresh light. 

 

Album recording

From 1 to 3 November I will work on a new recording of French repertoire with viol player Jonathan Rees and lutenist Alex McCartney. The album will be released on the label Veterum Musica in the second half of 2017. Stay tuned!

Conference of the Hungarian Musicological Society

I am glad to return to Budapest and present a paper as part of the Hungarian Musicological Society’s 13th annual conference. I will present my paper Artifizio Senz’Arte: Towards a musical interpretation of an early-modern sociological ideal on 14 October.

Extrasensory: Music performance

On 11 September, I will perform alongside Jan Waterfield as part of the first Extrasensory: Music Festival in Glasgow. Our programme Reduction and Deconstruction will be accompanied by divine treats prepared by ‘Rum, Egg and Muck’.

Oxford Early Music Festival performance

I very much look forward to performing on 14 May, as part of this year’s Oxford Early Music Festival! Our programme, Looking at the smaller picture, with the wonderful Jan Waterfield on harpsichord will showcase a variety of Italian diminutions from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

BBC Radio 3 performance

On 4 May, I will appear on BBC Radio 3’s InTune to introduce my upcoming performance in this year’s Oxford Early Music Festival. I will play my own diminutions on Madre non mi far monaca and Doulce memoire. If you miss the live performance, the broadcast will be available on the radio’s website for another month.

Fuga Baroque Festival performance

Conference of the Hungarian Musicological Society

I am glad to have been selected to present my paper A Game of Time: Rhythmic freedom & musical structures in the performance practice of late seventeenth & early eighteenth-century music on the 12th Conference of the Hungarian Musicological Society, focusing on the performance practice, history & theory of the eighteenth century. My presentation will take place on 10 October.

Stour Music Festival performance
